2010 - 2011 Head Coaches
The
14U Lightning team for the 2011 season is led by returning coach Steve
Cook. Steve lives in Bellingham. Coach Cook brings many years of experience to
the Thunder and Lightning Program. He has coached and administered the
recreation softball program with the Bellingham Girls Softball
Association. His travel A level experience includes a head coaching stint
with the New England Rip Tide, where he won the 2007 ASA Mass State
Championship. In 2008, Steve led the 12U Strikezone Shock. In 2009,
Steve managed the 12U Central Mass Lightning team to an ASA State Championship.
Steve led the 14U Lightning team in 2010 and served as the junior varsity coach
at Holliston High School.

The 12U Thunder team for the 2011 season is
lead by Mark Homer. Coach Homer lives in Mansfield. Mark has extensive youth coaching experience, with impressive
decade-long successes as a hockey coach with Noble and Greenough
School, Foxboro High School,
as well as the PRO/AM Hockey League. He
currently is the head hockey coach at Taunton High. He coached for over 10 years in the Mansfield
Youth Baseball League. Recently he has
coached and administered within the Mansfield Youth Softball association, and
last year coached with the Mansfield Swarm 14U fastpitch travel team.
The 16U Thunder team for the 2011 season is led by coach Noreen Arpin. Coach Arpin lives in
Uxbridge. Noreen brings many years of both
playing and coaching experience to the program.
She was a standout high school athlete at Northbridge
High School and was a 4-year collegiate
softball starting player with the American
International College
in Springfield, MA. She
exhibits particular acumen in developing catchers and pitchers. Her coaching stints include JV coach at Northbridge High School, and travel team coach with
the Uxbridge Flames and the Uxbridge Utes.
Noreen was an assistant coach for the 2010 14U Central Mass Thunder.
The 18U Thunder Showcase team for 2011 will consist of players who have a desire and commitment to
showcase their skills in front of collegiate coaches. The team is led by
returning coach, Mark Hernandez. Mark lives in Mansfield.
Coach Hernandez had a successful stint as a minor league professional
baseball player before starting his coaching career. He is a former softball instructor at RBI Academy,
Foxboro, MA. Mark is also a former head coach at Nobles and Greenough
High School, assistant coach for
Division II Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, MI., and head varsity softball coach
at St. Mary's Catholic Central High School
in Monroe, Michigan. Mark currently serves as the
varsity softball coach at Needham
High School. He returns for his 10th year as coach of the
18U showcase team.
